What is this Web site about?This Web site has been designed to provide live treatment for chemical dependency, including alcohol and drug addiction. It is a pioneering effort, taking advantage of Internet technology to bring treatment to individuals who otherwise might not get the treatment they need. eGetgoing puts trained experts in contact with individuals who need help. This is done in a manner that ensures privacy and convenience while preserving the efficacy of traditional treatment.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview How do I schedule my group sessions?When you sign up for treatment, you will select a core treatment path that includes a pre-arranged set of group session times, so you will know exactly when to meet with your group. Your personalized home page will help you keep track of your meetings by showing you the time remaining before your next session.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview Can I change my session schedules?You may change your core group track up two times. Depending on space availability, you may or may not be with the same counselor. You will continue your group sessions in sequence.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview How many sessions will I attend?You will attend 24 interactive sessions. A counselor who is experienced in treating chemical dependency leads all sessions.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview How long are the sessions?The sessions last one hour, but you will need to check in a few minutes before the session begins. The counselors are always available in the chat rooms after the formal session is over for questions or assistance with homework assignments.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview Will other people know who I am?The eGetgoing program is designed to maximize your anonymity and confidentiality. In most cases, even the counselor will not know your real name. Your image will never be revealed to anyone in the system. While logged on to eGetgoing, you will use a screen name of your own choosing for identification purposes.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview What happens if I arrive late to the session?If you are running late, you are able to join the group at any time during the one-hour group. We strongly recommend being on time, and checked in, so we may test your audio and video prior to the beginning of each group. You will be counted as present if you are participating in the group during the first 30 minutes. Attendance is taken at the end of each session.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview If I know I will miss a scheduled session, what do I do?Contact your counselor to determine if a make-up session can be arranged.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview What if I have to leave the computer during a group session?If during a session you need to step away from the computer you may notify the online counselor by sending a private email during group. Prior to stepping out of your group you will click on the "Step Out" button on your group screen. This will let the group know you are away from your computer. Part of our treatment philosophy is to help you decide if you have a problem and what you want to do about it.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview What can I expect during one of the sessions?You can expect to be part of a live group that talks to each other under the leadership of an experienced counselor. You can see your counselor through out the session. You will watch video vignettes of a simulated therapy session which, along with slides illustrate the issues that are discussed in each session.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview What will I get when I sign up?When you sign up for live online treatment with eGetgoing, you will select an appointment for a first session and become part of an online group. eGetgoing will mail you a package that contains a headset, written instructions, and a CD that has all the software you need to participate.Back to Top Back to FAQ Overview What is Aftercare?Aftercare is a weekly, structured text-based support group, offered to our clients at no cost after they complete an eGetgoing treatment program. Alumni may attend up to two groups per week in a free chat room that is moderated by eGetgoing counselors. We strongly recommend that your plans include attending 12-Step meetings and using a sponsor for support.The best way to locate a meeting near you is to contact the central offices of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
