Barry W. Karlin, Ph.D.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Karlin serves as
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of CRC Health
Group, the largest for-profit provider of chemical
dependency treatment in the USA. In 1995 he
co-founded CRC for the purpose of acquiring and
operating drug and alcohol abuse treatment
facilities. In December 1999, he founded
eGetgoing, a subsidiary of CRC, as a means to extend
access through online technology to the type of quality
treatment provided by CRC to untreated segments of the
population. As Chairman & Chief Executive
Officer of both eGetgoing and CRC, Dr. Karlin is
responsible for strategy and overall performance.
He has completed numerous acquisitions for CRC and
continues to grow the company by acquiring additional
facilities and through the expansion of existing
services with new clinical programs and
markets.
CRC is now the country's
largest provider of drug and alcohol treatment, with 68
facilities nationwide and more than 2000 employees. The
Silicon Valley Business Journal in November, 2002 cited
CRC as among "the five fastest growing companies in the
Silicon Valley". eGetgoing, the only nationally
accredited online alcohol and drug treatment program,
won the 2002 eHealthcare Leadership Award Gold Medal for
best websites, achieving the Gold medal for Best
Physician/Clinician-Focused Site.
Dr. Karlin has
a diverse background in operating companies, venture
capital and management consulting. He has
expertise in general management, finance, marketing and
strategic planning. He previously founded and
served as chief executive officer of two emerging growth
high technology companies and served as a general
partner at a venture firm specializing in the wireless
communications industry. Dr. Karlin was formerly a
strategy management consultant; first with Strategic
Decisions Group and subsequently with Decision &
Risk Analysis, Inc. Clients included General
Motors, Hewlett-Packard, Chevron and Disney. As a
consultant, Dr. Karlin regularly facilitated senior
executive retreats and conducted seminars on strategy
development.
He received his Ph.D. and M.S. from
Stanford University in the Department of
Engineering-Economic-Systems in 1981 and a B.S. in
Electrical Engineering in 1976.
Kathleen Sylvia
Chief Operating Officer
CRC Health Corporation and eGetgoing, Inc.
Ms. Sylvia, the Chief Operating
Officer, is responsible for all day to day operations of
CRC, having served as Executive director from 1993 to
1998. During her tenure, client census has grown by
100%; pre-tax margins have consistently exceeded 25%;
and services have expanded to include adolescent and
outpatient programs at multiple locations. In addition,
Ms. Sylvia successfully managed the turnaround of
Starlite, delivering a profit almost from the outset.
Ms. Sylvia has worked more than thirty years in the
healthcare field, the last eighteen years in behavioral
health.
Prior to joining CRC, she was the Associate Administrator at
National Medical Enterprise Hospitals and Community
Psychiatric Centers (national, publicly traded
behavioral healthcare facilities) responsible for all
clinical, personnel and quality functions. From 1980 to
1988 she was Associate Administrator of the Oklahoma
Youth Center, the primary youth and adolescent
psychiatric treatment facility for the state of
Oklahoma.
Jay Raimondi
Vice President and
Chief Technology Officer
CRC Health Group, Inc and eGetgoing, Inc.
Jay
Raimondi has over 30 years experience technology management,
systems integration and product development including
eight years in e-commerce related technology
including eGetgoing's foundation product
suite. Jay also serves as the CTO for CRC Health
Group where he is responsible for all systems and
infrastructure. Jay was the Co-Founder of Commerce
America, a successful Internet auction company. He has managed
enterprise class technology projects for Fortune 500
companies including Bank of America, General Motors,
Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and GMAC. Prior to his
e-commerce experience, Jay held technical management
positions with Automatic Data Processing, Bell Atlantic
and General Electric.
Jay holds undergraduate
degrees in electrical engineering (New Hampshire
Technical Institute, 1978) and industrial education
(State University of New York, Oswego, 1973) and is a
graduate of General Electric's Manufacturing Management
Program (1980).
Cynthia Reinbach, M.S.
Vice President of Clinical Services and Operations
Cynthia
Reinbach has been involved in the mental health field
for the past 18 years, where she has specialized in
psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. As
Clinical Director and. Prior to joining eGetgoing, she
served as the Corporate Director of Clinical Services
for CRC Health Corporation. During her tenure she
designed clinical systems, implemented administrative
protocols, and was responsible for clinical and quality
assurance for all CRC facilities. She assisted in the
JCAHO licensing; TCADA, and CARF certifications in CRC's
newly acquired facilities in California and Texas. In
CRC's Starlite facility in Texas, she oversaw the
process of de-certification of its psychiatric status,
and re- certification as a JCAHO approved Chemical
Dependency Treatment facility for both adults and
adolescents.
Before joining the CRC management team, she served
as the Administrator of the Adolescent Treatment Program
managed by Recovery Centers of America, at The Community
Hospital of Los Gatos. From 1989 to 1994, she assisted
in opening the facility at Community Psychiatric Centers,
Fremont. She initially served as the Interim Director
of the Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Programs, then designed
and implemented the Psychiatric Partial Hospital Programs
for adults and adolescents, serving as Director. As
Senior Counselor for Comprehensive Care Corporation's
San Jose Medical Center site, she oversaw the Chemical
Dependency Counseling treatment team.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and
a Master of Science in Marriage, Family, Child Counseling
from San Jose State University. Her professional associations
include the International Society for Mental Health
Online, and the Association of Ambulatory Behavioral
Healthcare Providers of Northern California, of which
she is a founding member.
