Moderation
Chemically dependent people who have lost the ability
to control their drinking or drug use should not try to
drink or use drugs in moderation. Most chemically
dependent people who have tried to control or limit their
alcohol and/or drug use fail. Eventually, they find
themselves once again at the same or higher level of use
than before. They also find themselves with the same problems or with problems that have grown
worse. Any use of alcohol and/or drugs keeps the
disease of chemical addiction active and makes full
recovery almost impossible. Many people have to fail
repeatedly at controlling their drinking or drug use before
they can accept their addiction.
